MLA Citation Activities

Over the past two days, we have been learning about MLA citations and finding the information needed on resources in order to make a citation. Click here to see the presentation. The students worked together to make citations for a book, magazine newspaper articles, and an Internet site. We also did a little lesson on plagiarism. Since student will be learning how to do in-text citation, there should be no problem with plagiarism.

Writing and AR

Today we started up our paragraph writing for the term by focusing on a goal students have after high school. They also needed to write what they are doing now to help attain the goal. Our focus was on the same as last term: indenting, capitalization, and punctuation. Afterward, students were given time for AR.

First Day

Today was the first day of the third quarter and after a long break, we did a little catching up. I asked what students did over their breaks and what they got for Christmas. Afterward, we went over the calendar for the term. Click here to see it. This is probably the most important term in the fact that what we are learning will be used next year at the high school. We are learning the research process and citing sources which is what the history day project at the high school is all about. We will have a more in depth discussion of the paper tomorrow.
